Barbara A. Davis, PhD, RD

Barbara A. Davis, PhD, RD has more than 15 years of experience in nutrition research and new product development in consumer packaged goods and academic environments. She is currently Vice President, Science & Technology for HealthFocus International.


Prior to joining HealthFocus, Dr. Davis was Director, Innovation, Nutrition & Claims at The Dannon Company, Inc. There she led scientific aspects of company-wide brand innovation by evaluating scientific and technical feasibility of ingredients and opportunities for new product development. She directed and coordinated clinical trials in support of claims, developed scientific substantiation dossiers for health claims in the US and EU, served as liaison between R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal and Manufacturing departments and between Dannon’s North American business units and Groupe Danone to drive product innovations.


Dr. Davis held positions as a Senior Research Scientist and Principal Research Scientist at Wyeth Nutrition, where she directed identification and evaluation of functional ingredients for infant formulas. Previous to these positions, she was on the nutrition faculty of the Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise Department at Virginia Tech, where she developed and directed the grant-funded Molecular Nutrition Laboratory.


Barbara received a PhD from the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department at the University of Florida. She completed an MS degree and fulfilled requirements to become a Registered Dietitian (RD) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
